I have personally worked with a lot of "Drupal developers" on jobs in the past only to find out that they really didn't know their Drupal. They knew php and mysql but they just didn't quite "get" how drupal works. This is extremely good advice for any company out there trying to hire a Drupal developer. I can only hope that more companies find this post and use it in their job interviews.

Thanks for the comment, Rob. I guess there are only two solutions - either Flash comes to mobile devices, or Flash becomes less utilized on the Web. It will be interesting to see which comes first.

I did actually mention your SEO concern near the beginning of the article. Search engines won't penalize you for extensive use of Flash, but I think you are limiting the amount of success you can realize in many cases.

Thanks again for the feedback!

I completely agree. I use an iPhone for about 40% of my communication and application needs daily... I'm on it now as a matter of fact.

You forgot to mention that search crawlers don't pick up all of the content within flash, so these sites get missed or at least downgraded in search results.

And it is only going to get worse...

A little late to the discussion but:

I've been lucky to get #1 for a competitive and lucrative phrase and you are spot on about the .5% conversion rate. Most people come to the site because we offer a registration free property search...they just want to look.

If you want to be #1 organically, you have to offer something for free...something great.

But PPC helps you figure out the basics. The immediacy of the traffic provides data for improvement that helps ensure you will better capture, inform/entertain, and convert organic traffic when it finally comes.

And the better you do that, the higher you'll climb.
